Another storming run. This time across open water from Pwllheli in North Wales, back to Aberdovey. We drove up in our official support boat The Master of Trinity House, the Outward Bound monster RIB. This boat is great and it needs to be since going over the bar at the entrance to the Dovey estuary yesterday was mad, with head high steep tidal chop. We all got a proper soaking and many thanks to crew members Fiona Whitehead, Mike Thomas, Sarah Quinlan and Howard Crompton for their patience.
Leaving the beach in Pwllheli was sketchy to say the least. Dodging the boats racing in the Merlin Rocket nationals, we launched the kites in a gust off-shore breeze which left us largely underpowered until we cleared the influence of the Llyn peninsular. Once up and running though conditions were good although the course was very square to the wind and just on the one tack. Good one leg training! Mental note to choose a launch in Ireland that affords us a slightly broader reach.
